[Music] sadness is a revolution against the Creator what does that mean well we have to understand that the evil inclination is always trying to get us to feel sad depressed and to give up on ourselves when we do something wrong when we make a sin we have a setback that's the time when we have to fight the evil inclination to not get sad because having a setback is a way of getting to know ourselves better being able to understand what we need to improve in ourselves not a way of persecuting that's not happening to persecute ourselves Hashem does not allow a person to fail so that he can make himself depressed I shall Shem allows a person to fail in order for him to improve himself and to get more motivation going to be able to do better in the future let's learn today from chapter 12 where in chapter 13 actually which from the Universal Garden of emunah this wonderful book by Rabbi Shalom maroush and we're in chapter 13 which is called getting to know yourself and it's interesting that this chapter is about self rectification it's about penitence and we're going to see how rabbi Irish puts them together you might wonder what does getting to know yourself have to do with being a repentant person and returning to God we're going to see some beautiful connections that he makes for us here okay the major evil inclination the one that follows a setback or a failure is much worse than the failure itself says failure breaks a person's ego many people have difficulty accepting the fact that they are in quotes nothing without the Creator so a failure breaks our ego it breaks our arrogance and thinking that we are something by ourselves without the creator's help regardless of how intelligent we are we really need to understand with humility
