Abayim, welcome to another Wednesday night class in Hadar Lebanon. Avenue S at the corner of East 9th. We're learning tonight Parashat Shoftim le'iluy nishmat Shelomo ben Rosa. Ruach Hashem tenihenu beGan Eden. And also, Tammy? Bracha. Bracha? bat Na'ama. Ruach Hashem tenihenu beGan Eden. So, as you know, since we are in Sefer Devarim, and Sefer Devarim is called Mishneh Torah, which means it's a repetition of the Torah, either the generation that is still left over from the sin of the meraglim, the ones over 60, or the new generation. And being that it is Mishneh Torah, you will see a lot of mitzvot, a lot of commandments, a lot of stories, seemingly being repeated by Moshe Rabbenu. And we have in this week's parashah, Moshe Rabbenu repeats, or teaches it to the new generation, the mitzvah of Arei Miklat. Arei Miklat, we'll see what Arei Miklat are. But before we get into that, we know that Parashat Shoftim always coincides with the first week of Chodesh Elul. Chodesh tov, by the way. Tonight is Rosh Chodesh Elul. Tomorrow night, be'ezrat Hashem, is also Rosh Chodesh Elul. Parashat Shoftim always falls out on the first week of Chodesh Elul. Now, the Mishnah Berurah, when he comments on Siman Tav Kuf Peh Alef, hilchot Rosh Hashanah, he says like this. So, the Mechaber, the Beit Yosef Karo, says nohagim lakum be'ashmoret lomar selichot vetachanunim miRosh Chodesh Elul ve'eilach ad Yom HaKippurim. Sephardi custom is to wake up starting this Sunday, be'ezrat Hashem, Sunday morning early, um until Rosh Hashanah, and then afterwards until Yom Kippur. That's our Sephardic custom. The Ashkenazim as the Ramas is over here and the Ashkenazim Enochim. He brings the different customs of the Ashkenazim. But we'll see the customs of the Sephardim.
