Good morning. So, today this week's parsha let's start with is parsha Eikev. Eikev means when the Torah says when you will listen to my commandments, then Hashem will keep his part of the bargain, which is to protect you and give you everything you protect you in the promised land and give you everything that he has promised you. Um And the parsha essentially in its the word Eikev can also mean heel in Hebrew. I say just say that it's a reference to when a person is careful to keep the when a person is careful to keep the commandments that people tread on with their heels. In other words, they don't take seriously cuz they consider them minor. Um but the entire parsha really is continuation of um a continuation of um Mosha's speech to the people at the end of his life and essentially admonishing the people, telling them how they should behave. Um just some points of his some points from his speech are um He reminds them He reminds them how Hashem gave them the mana even though they and took care of them for 40 years. And so they should learn to rely on Hashem. He mentions the seven foods that Israel is blessed with. Wheat, barley, grapes, figs, dates, um uh pomegranates and olive oil. And he mentions that when we eat and are satisfied, we should thank Hashem afterwards through we call the birkat hamazon, the blessing after food.
