Today's Ta'anit Esther. And uh it's important to realize that a Ta'anit Esther is actually different than um all other fast days. The Rambam says in in the beginning of in Hilchos Ta'aniyos Perek A, he says there are these different um fast days that we have, Tzom Gedalya, Shiva Asar B'Tammuz, Tisha B'Av that, you know, we mourn something terrible that happened once upon a time. upon a time. Many of the cases are about the destruction of the Beis Hamikdash and we uh we we we're mourning and and we're sad. The the Rambam goes ahead and lists it. And then later on in Halacha A, he says that Yud Gimel Adar, that's today, that's something different. Zech l'Ta'anis she'is anu bimei Haman. That's more we're remembering the fast day that happened back in the day, in the time of the Purim miracle. The pasuk says um in Perek Tes of The pasuk says um in Perek Tes of Megillas Esther, it says that they fasted. Now, it happens to be they didn't fast on Yud Gimel Adar, they fasted in the month of Nisan. We're just commemorating the fact that they fasted back then. Um we do it today. So, that's different than the other fast days. The uh point of the other fast days, like the Rambam writes, is through fasting we do teshuvah, we repent for the terrible things that happened to us. Here it's different. Here the idea of the fast day is specifically to almost mimic and therefore bring in the hashkafa of what
