a few things i mean we only covered the uh the slave that's the first thing we did a few more points i want to cover a few things i'll be spotted so first of all um if you go to uh page 422 okay so it says like this um impossible 24. torah is talking about various forms of damages that you pay and it says um an eye for an eye shane taka's chain a tooth for a tooth hand for hand regulator burn for a burn okay so over here you have the concept of how you pay things back now the torah says is one of the most famous uh lines in the torah which has to be said an eye for an eye right but an eye for an eye we know according to the oral tradition means what monetary compensation an eye for an eye means monetary conservation i for now you don't poke out the guy's eye now if that's the case if that's the case why is it why is it that the torah writes it in these terms an eye for an eye just tell me monetary compensation why write and i if if that's what it really means want to tell me that's what it really means why are you saying in terms of an eye for an eye so the answer is like this you can't have a society where you poke out people's lives first of all it becomes unfair let's say ruvain has two good eyes and he pokes out shimon only has one good eye
