0:00 Be happy and think good, and do not look for a reason to be happy. So how does one come to this? If you look for a reason to be happy, then you have no joy. I'll give you an example. If right now you are sad because you have no wife, you are sad because you have no livelihood, you are sad because 'I have no path in life', you are sad... True, the Sages say that a man who has no wife lives without joy, without wisdom... But the intention is that it is said to a person who does not want to get married. But a person who wants to get married and does not find his match - it is hard for him.

0:26 It is not that the Sages come and break him, and the Holy One, blessed be He, curses him, 'may his bones rot' - it does not come to break him. This comes to encourage a person who does not want to get married - they encourage him to get married - but not someone who right now has an obstacle; that 'not good' from Heaven rests upon him. One needs to understand this - that is one thing. A second thing: joy does not need a reason. The moment a person has a reason for joy, that is not called joy, that is called frivolity. Now a person has a livelihood, he is happy. That is not being happy - he has peace of mind. He has satisfaction.

0:52 He has satisfaction, but that is not joy. Joy does not come from any reason. If the thing that brought the joy is gone, the joy is gone. Joy flows from within. 'His heart carried his feet' - when a person feels true happiness and joy. In what is he happy? In the Holy One, blessed be He. King David says, 'I will rejoice in Hashem.' The greatest joy there can be is in Hashem - only in the Holy One, blessed be He. Do you want to truly rejoice in something?

1:19 It is only in Hashem - He is the only One in whom there is no flaw, no lack. Only in Hashem, blessed be He, shall you rejoice.
