good morning so this week we have a double para it is the para of matot and M matot means tribes masi means travels we'll talk about each one in just a moment it is um sometimes we double pares we' spoken about it before um that we double Paras in order to finish make sure we finish the entire Torah by Sim Torah depending on the Year this year we Torah depending on the Year this year we did not double too many partials because it was a leap year we had an extra month of Adar we had an extra four weeks but then um depending if you sometimes we have extra shabbats and so we need to double pares to make up for those extra shabbats so um so this year we double the portion of mat we double the portion of matot and M um and so it's a fairly long par actually doubled together it's the longest reading that we do the the longest reading that we do the entire year the portion of matot Begins by mosha speaking to the leaders of the tribes that's where the name tribes comes from and he speaks to them about the laws of vows of one's keeping one's vow if one makes a vow one must keep their word um we once did a class on the Mitzvah of keeping your word um and that's why we're very careful whenever we make any commitments to always add the words believe NE or without a vow because we never want to be tied into that commitment we are required under
