Good morning, everyone. This week we read about tsaraat. The Torah spends a long time discussing this affliction of leprosy. The Gemara in Masechet Arachin says that tsaraat comes to a person as a punishment for a number of sins. The most common being lashon hara. So, what's called metzora? Metzora is motzi shem ra. Someone who talks negatively of others. Spreads rumors about others. Also, the Gemara says a person who has s- the Gemara says a person who has s- sarut ayin, which means he's a very stingy eye. Very selfish. Everything is about himself. For these reasons and others, comes the affliction of tsaraat. What is the purpose of tsaraat? of tsaraat? Meaning, what is the purpose of this punishment? And once we're on it, we can ask, what's the purpose of all punishment? Well, let's not say the word punishment. Maybe they say the word suffering. A person who has is suffering. He's suffering in his body. He's suffering in his house. He has physical pain, emotional pain. Suffering is a very very big part of this world that we live in. We all have experienced suffering. Physical, certainly emotional. A person is in pain for any number of different reasons. Suffering can come from financial Suffering can come from financial issues. It can comes through social issues. Suffering can happen through feeling of not accomplishment, or feeling of failure. Suffering can come from a loss, financial or relative. Suffering is a very relevant part of this world. is an example is an example of human suffering. Human suffering is not something that's easy to discuss with the person that's suffering. A person that's suffering in life is a person who needs emotional support. He needs a shoulder to cry on.
