today we're going to have a daunting task we are going to overview the entire five books of moshe in one hour we did it so whenever i teach the homicide we started with a little introduction you have to ask yourself a question what kind of book is a torah is it a history book is it a law book it's a torah story book you total all of the above what's the answer construction i gave you a choice history book law book story book or all of the above all the above definitely it contains history it contains laws and contains stories right let me rephrase the question what's the main point of the torah is it basically a history book and part of the history is that god gave some laws or was it basically a law book in history's background information is it a law book that contains history or a history book that contains laws what do you say you've been in or too long we just got here anyway if you go to the secular schools in israel what do they tell you it's a story book aesop's fables the arabian nights the bible i once had a professor he said the bible is a very truthful book it's truthful you can learn a lot of good things of it it's not true don't take it don't take it too seriously don't get too inspired like the lady who sent us something because he's going out with the non-jew they started getting religious no that's enough don't get too inspired but anyone who studies the torah objectively cannot help but seeing that it is basically a law book i mean what did god give at sinai ten stories or ten commandments no they want to change it
