The last 5 days of the year actually could change the entire year. As our rabbis tell us beautifully, "Hakol holech achar hachitum." Everything goes after the finishing. You could have a great year, but if the last 5 days are not so good, and you could have, God forbid, not the best year, but the last 5 days, if they're big, that could make YOUR ENTIRE YEAR. Our rabbis tell us 1 day of the year is already called a shanah in Maseches Rosh Hashanah. 1 day is already called a shanah, a year. And as we say in the Amidah of Mincha on the last Mincha of the year, which is going to be this coming Friday, and the Ben Ish Chai says the last Mincha of the year, you got to be very careful with it.
