as a professor of Jewish book history at the University of Amsterdam and the curator of the Bkinsky collection in Zurich, Switzerland. And he also was the co-author of the book that we'll be discussing here on the on the podcast, Fables and Jewish Culture, the John A. Lince collection. uh and uh he actually wrote this catalog. So we'll be discussing Jewish fables. And thank you, Professor Shrivever, for joining me once again. >> My pleasure. My pleasure. >> So, how do we define Jewish fables? Well, it's not necessarily an easy topic because fables as such are not a a typically Jewish genre, but they do typically Jewish genre, but they do appear all over Jewish literary frankly. I mean, as early as the uh as Tanakh, I mean, they um so we have a a number of fables in Tanakh, but but typically they most of us connect them to the Fox Fables and most of us connect them to the to the let's say the later genres, but they're a lot older and and the way that I define them and in the book and that we define them in the book, we uh we actually discuss a number of definitions is a story that takes place in the world of animals, plants or inanimate objects
