okay gang the ball's in your court remember heard you speak by your personal story one time he said at that time i just wanted to know what well um it's a long story it's not on my website but briefly i came in very gradual stages um and my reviews attack the boston rabbi never never pushed me to move in any particular direction particularly not to take on his and hug him his customs never never gave you any indication of that and i uh after i got my ba i took off here and spent the year mayor kazarev cook which was of course that kind of modern orthodox orientation i came back without orientation grabbed my phd became a professor so modern orthodoxy seemed to be just exactly the right balance that i needed but then i had a series of very challenging experiences i was teaching at johns hopkins of baltimore and i was living in the front community many of the people there were graduates of israel yeshiva and we used to discuss things or argue about things or battle about things you know and there was a very depressingly consistent outcome that i lost every battle and i don't like to lose and it became clear after a while that i just had inferior material in which i was facing my beliefs my orientation was just inferior to theirs so i began exploring more and more you know basically for what their attitudes towards things and i found that they had much better command of information much better
