Welcome. Today we're going to do Parshas Vayeira. Parshas Vayeira starts when God was talking to Abraham, and then we have the whole story, the angels came and he fed them and then they told Sarah that she's going to have a son and then we have the whole story, Abraham prays to save Sodom, this whole story. So there's a disagreement in this Parshah between the Rambam, Maimonides, and the Ramban, Nachmanides, a very big disagreement. So I'd like to first start with the Rambam and I want to tell you what the Rambam's principles are about prophecy. So first the Rambam says in Part 2, Chapter 46 in the Moreh, the Rambam says that when a prophecy starts and then you have things happen afterwards, you can assume that all that is part of the prophecy. In the book of Isaiah chapter 20, God tells Isaiah he should get undressed and walk naked and barefoot and he did that and then God says just like he walked for three years naked and barefoot, so the Rambam says that it's not likely that God told Isaiah to walk around for three years naked and barefoot. But just like in a dream, a person has a dream, the dream can compress a long time in one dream. You could dream that you went to a different country and you could dream that
