first we argue that we're not looking for proofs absolute certainty infallibility those things are impossible anyhow and in practical life we never have we're looking for evidence reason enough to make a decision probability and then we looked at the and then we looked at the revelation at sinai and we asked do we have reason enough to believe that it's a real event rather than just an invented myth we pointed out that people know almost everything that they know because they got it from other people some reports are credible some reports are not credible how do we decide which are which by our experience by our experience we learn that some sources are reliable and some sources are not reliable we learn that the source is reliable by checking those items coming from the source that we're able to check if the items were able to check are very largely true that means in our experience the source is credible reliable and they will trust it for the items we can't check otherwise if not not if we would have a source if we would have a source where every item coming from the source that we can check turns out to be true then we would have very strong evidence that that source is reliable and then we would have very strong reason to rely upon it in other items which we cannot check that's how we do it in all of life the revelation at sinai is a piece of information from a source
