Shalom and blessings. King Solomon teaches us that there is a broad common denominator between success in business and success for a person who wants to acquire wisdom in general and Torah wisdom in particular. So much so that he frames this as a parable and its moral. If you want to succeed in business, follow this list. If you want to succeed in gaining wisdom and Torah learning, follow the same list. The difference is follow the same list. The difference is simply that one is in the realm of material gain and the other in the spiritual realm. In Proverbs 10:4, Solomon writes, "Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth." and immediately after. He who gathers in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son. Let's first look at the practical lesson for business and then the deeper lesson regarding wisdom. In the lesson regarding wisdom. In the preceding verses, Solomon gives us a famous principle, righteousness saves from death. Then he says, the Lord will not let the righteous go hungry. In other words, when a person is not self-centered, not only concerned with what can I get for myself, but gives to others, they actually gain much more for themselves. Life itself, the most precious thing a person has, can be protected through giving. Charity can protected through giving. Charity can save from death. Furthermore, Solomon says, "The Lord will not let the soul of the righteous go hungry." Why does he say the soul rather than simply the righteous? This refers to satisfaction. When a person does good deeds, helps others, supports Torah learning, their soul is nourished. Even though the body did not receive anything physical, the soul feels fulfilled, joyful, calm. That
