Let us contemplate today a wonderful piece of advice, guidance that King Solomon gives to a person who wishes to give, who wishes to bestow. Every human being, when born, is naturally a taker, not a giver. He does not initiate acts of giving to others. He only receives. He receives from his parents, from his surroundings. Part of a person's maturity is when he begins to change from one who takes to one who gives, to from one who takes to one who gives, to one who also provides for others. True human perfection is when a person feels, "My entire being exists only to give." Of course, by the nature of life, he also receives from others, from his wife, from friends, but his inner essence, his will, his yearning, his desire is to give. And when a person gives, he is granted great heavenly assistance. The verse says, "Charity saves from The verse says, "Charity saves from death." When a harsh decree stands over a person, even if he is unaware of it, and he gives charity, that charity can save him from death. But King Solomon teaches that one must know there is a condition to giving. One must know how to give. And this rule applies not only to charity, but also to marriage, to every form of giving, whether through money, through help, or through any act of kindness. or through any act of kindness.
