For many years, one of the main themes we like to focus on in preparation for the Yom Kippur Purim, and it's an idea we should think about all year round, is the divine irony of the Purim story. Specifically, what the Gamara refers to al ho'eitz asher heichin lo, tana lo heichin, that all the plans, all the machinations that Haman and Achashverosh used to try to annihilate the Jewish people, Hashem co-opted, harnessed them, and used them to backfire, used them against Haman and against Achashverosh, to the point where we pointed out at the very end of the story, that the taxes that Achashverosh used to tax the whole world, we read in Sefer Ezra, those that tax money was ultimately used to rebuild the second Beit Hamikdash. Well, actually, this phenomenon is coming to sharp attention in the war against Iran. Amid the biggest concentration of United States military build-up in the Middle East in many decades, there is a detail and an element of irony that has not been given the proper attention. Some call them kamikaze drones because they evoke the image of the Japanese suicide attacks on the United States Navy toward the end of World War II. These drones are called the loitering drones.
