0:33 Honored rabbis, with the permission of all the holy congregation. May the Holy One, blessed be He, bless you all. "This is the day Hashem has made; let us rejoice and be glad on it." I am honored to take part with you in the holy hillula of Rabbeinu Chaim ben Attar, Rabbeinu, the holy Ohr HaChaim, son of Rabbi Moshe, grandson of Rabbeinu Chaim the Elder, may his merit protect us and all Israel, our brothers.

1:03 This is certainly a great joy. It is written in the Zohar, in Pinchas, page 219 — Rabbi Shimon says that when a celebration is made, the seed of the holy ones, the seed of the tzaddikim — the holy forefathers, the tzaddikim, come to rejoice in the celebrations of all their descendants. And everyone who is here with us today — this is a celebration of sons, of holy students, who engage in the holy Ohr HaChaim.

1:34 And from here we certainly learn that the holy Ohr HaChaim himself comes to rejoice with us here, at this celebration, since we are mentioning him, and we all came, we took the trouble to come and mention his name, Rabbi Chaim son of Rabbi Moshe Attar, and may his merit protect us, that we be saved in all matters, all of them. Everyone needs to know something very important about Rabbeinu, the holy Ohr HaChaim.

1:59 It is a holy and most awesome sefer, and among the important sefarim and commentaries through which the holy Torah was explained. The holy Torah scroll that is in this ark here with you — Rabbeinu, the holy Ohr HaChaim, is one of the seventy true commentaries, and wondrous, according to the truth of the Torah. The holy Alshich, Rabbeinu, the holy Ohr HaChaim, and all the holy ones and the tzaddikim — all of them wanted to be given this title, and the merit of being called "the holy Ohr HaChaim."

2:35 People in the world do not know that Rabbeinu, the holy Ohr HaChaim, was persecuted all the days of his life — and the death of his holy father-in-law, Rabbi Moshe. We see that the king decreed to burn and kill the father-in-law of Rabbeinu, the holy Ohr HaChaim.

3:06 The holy Ohr HaChaim interceded for him in prayer, and he was saved, but his days were not long: he was stricken in his heart and passed from the world. And the holy Ohr HaChaim was left in hard and bitter conditions, and he suffered persecutions and false accusations all the days of his life, until he passed from the world. The money he had was not enough to pay all the debts and everything they heaped on him from the false accusations and the persecutions — so much so that they say there was not one night that the holy Ohr HaChaim did not spend in exile, and the whole sefer Ohr HaChaim that you read, and everything we see before our eyes — every night Rav Chaim wrote in a different city, out of the exile, as he wandered from place to place,

3:51 as he wrote explicitly in his introduction: the whole exile and everything he went through. When we merit to see a little of his Torah, of the holy Ohr HaChaim, we must remember, and we must engrave in our minds, the holy faith in the Sages, and the holy Ohr HaChaim, that we not forget him — the anointed of Hashem. In Parashas Re'eh he wrote: "The anointed of Hashem — his name is Chaim."

4:15 We ask of him pardon, forgiveness and atonement for what happened in his generation, for all he went through, for all the persecutions, for all the pain, all the humiliations, for all that you went through, Rabbeinu Chaim ben Attar. We hereby ask of you pardon, forgiveness and atonement, in the name of all Israel, whether in this incarnation or in previous incarnations. And forgive us, anointed of Hashem, Rabbeinu, the holy Ohr HaChaim, Rabbi Chaim son of Rabbi Moshe Attar, that in your merit the geulah will come, that in your merit we will be saved.

4:45 May Hashem, blessed be He, protect us and guard us and all Israel, our brothers. To remember always, and to ask forgiveness of the holy Ohr HaChaim, who lived in his generation and suffered all the days of his life, until he passed to his eternal home — and even after he passed. He suffered from the members of his household, he suffered from enemies he had, from within and from without, he went through persecutions, troubles and humiliations beyond measure. There was no one who went through such persecutions as the holy Ohr HaChaim.

5:09 And the greatest pain is that this is how he passed from the world. And we must pray, and always ask forgiveness of this holy one, and also ask forgiveness of Zechariah, for all the bloodshed that Zechariah went through, all the pain he went through — as Rabbi Yehuda Moshe Fetaya said: to ask forgiveness of Zechariah. And your sign for it: "In fury You stride the earth." Zechariah; the deed of the Calf — to ask forgiveness for the Calf that was, for how we sinned in the sin of the Calf, and for the pain we caused Moshe Rabbeinu.

5:38 May it be His will that we all merit the complete geulah, in the merit of Rabbeinu Chaim son of Rabbi Moshe Attar, and may we merit that Malchus rise swiftly to the crown of Ze'ir Anpin, and may we all merit the complete geulah, and the yichud of Yisrael and the great Rachel, speedily and soon. So may it be His will, and let us say Amen. Tzaddikim, please clear the passageway. The Rav is coming up to play a few niggunim in honor of Rabbi Chaim ben Attar.
