The Yanuka — Rav Shlomo Yehuda

The shiur in English

0:00 All year, when ordeals, troubles and sufferings pass over a person - do you know why that is? Because he forgets the holy King, he forgets the King of judgment, he forgets that there is a King before him, and instead he imagines that there is someone who has to fulfill his wishes for him. Hashem does not have to fulfill your wishes. You are a servant of the King; you do My will, says Hashem, blessed be He. Do you learn the Torah, do you keep My mitzvah? Do you do what I commanded in My Torah?

0:26 If you do My will and you keep what I commanded, and you understand that I am the King and you are a servant, Come, 'walk before Me.' Come, I will assist, I will help you. But when a person forgets the King, he walks around here with pride, or with... 'I'm in despair, I'm with... leave it, I'm not that, Hashem doesn't answer me.' That is complete heresy and apikorsus, you should know.

0:50 It is not 'heresy', it is not 'a denier' - it is a denier, a min and an apikores. Whatever Hashem, blessed be He, wants - one must nullify oneself to the King. The King owes a person nothing. No matter what He does - He may throw him into the heart of the sea, or into the desert. He is King, to do whatever He wants. The moment we understand that we are servants of the Creator, servants of the King, we submit before Him and accept His will with love and rejoice in His deeds.

1:17 And whatever the King does, if the King decides to do this to me, or the King decides to do it this way, we must accept it with love. Of course it is hard, and one must tell Him that it is bitter for me and hard for me, and I do not want these troubles, and I want Him to save me.
