Rabban Shimon ben Gamliel says: The cutting [of the throat] is done in a way that allows the bird to be properly slaughtered, to ensure the [correct] nerves are severed so that the bird may die, as they insert [the knife] into the drinking passage. Rabbi Nathan says : That which is slaughtered, say the fish that grew. Ritually fit in its root. Rabbi Shamar, Rabbi Yehuda: This is the rule, if so, fit are the praises . As seen by the son of Kappara, one of the scholars of the song, the cutting of the son of Kappara, had he been a good choice of honey, a man to stand in honey before the Torah came.
