on day number two of our daily study of safe remedies of the rambam we're still going over the introductory matter of the book and as mentioned yesterday there are 14 principles that the Rama employs in order to determine what precisely are the 613 Commandments today we're going to go over the first three of those 14 principles but before we do so just a little uh historical background as I mentioned yesterday the number was not the first to attempt to identify what precisely are the 613 biblical Mitzvahs we know there's a tradition that there are 613 mitsubs in the Torah but we don't know exactly what they are a previous attempt was composed During the gaonic period That's the period right after the redaction of the talmud and it is known as the bahag or the Bal hola which was composed by one of the Anum in the land of bubble which modern day Iraq and he has his own way of enumerating the 613 Commandments that rambam takes exception to a number of those so we are going to refer to that in uh as we go through the principles uh that ramaph explains why he determines certain things to be mitches and other things not to be Mitzvahs okay so the first three principles of the 14 principles that mm employs principle number one is that we do not include rabbinic Commandments the bahag includes some rabbinic Commandments that amam says if well first of all why would you even think that we should include
