0:00 What are we waiting for - the day of Mashiach? Or Mashiach himself? For the person. "If not for this day, how many Yosefs are there in the market" - Pesachim, page 68. Are you waiting for the day, or are you waiting for Mashiach? "His sunset holds him back from eating terumah" - no? - Yes. - So which is it: "the day becomes clear" or "the man becomes pure"? - Nu, so what does the Rav say? - He said to him, Rabbi Yehoshua ben Levi, he said to him: "Today, if you listen to His voice." That means one needs to wait for the day. We do not truly look forward to Mashiach, right? One need not look forward to Mashiach. One needs to look forward to the day that Mashiach will come.
0:24 To the day that "you listen to His voice" - this is what Rabbi Yehoshua ben Levi taught us. Tractate Eruvin, page 43, where the Gemara says: "Behold, I am a nazir on the day that the son of David comes" - he is forbidden to drink wine, except on Shabbos and Yom Tov, because on Shabbos and Yom Tov Mashiach will not come. So what are we waiting for? For the day on which Mashiach will come, and not for Mashiach himself. So Mashiach himself is not the point, because it does not depend on him; it depends on the day he will come. Who decides on which day he will come? We do! What is 'we'? Who is it - the tzaddikim? We, the Jewish people! If we listen today to the voice of Hashem, blessed be He,
0:53 then he will come today. "His sunset holds him back from eating terumah." To look forward to Mashiach is to look forward to the day on which Mashiach will come.
