What’s said in this shiur

The opening of this shiur, in Rabbi Dovid Orlofsky’s own words — taken from the captions, so names and Hebrew terms may be approximate.

Well, it's Tisha B'Av again. In the time of the second base of mikdash, Tisha B'Av was a yom tov. And when the geulah comes, Tisha B'Av will once again be a yom tov. And kin era, this one is not. It's the same Tisha B'Av we've had for almost 2,000 years. Fasting, hungry and thirsty, hungry and thirsty, sitting on the floor, mourning the destruction of the base of mikdash, the loss of that special connection with Hakadosh Baruch Hu, and a realization that once again, we have lost the chance to be able to get close to Hakadosh Baruch Hu, to have a bias to have a bias where we could live together as an ish and isha. The first trick to change is realization. When you go to one of the various support groups for different problems, they always start off by saying, "My name is so-and-so, and I am an addict." name is so-and-so, and I am an addict." Cuz if I don't recognize that I have a problem, I'm never going to change it. And so, we come to Tisha B'Av, and we need to understand why are we still sitting on the ground 2,000 years later saying kinas as we've said from ages ago. Still trying to find how to solve the problems find how to solve the problems that we've been in enmeshed in. And so usually we go through a particular kinah. I want to take a little theme of kinahs this year if you will indulge me. I hope it's the last time we do it. So if I manage to deal with a number of them, maybe that'll make life a little easier for us. Kinah Zion starts Eichah asher be ah perach la'abed biyad Edomim. Amu nachah.
