Shalom Aleichem. Welcome to the Breslov weekly Parsha shiur. Today - this week - is Parshas Bamidbar. Last week we finished the book of Vayikra. This book is called Bamidbar - in the desert. The English translation translates as Numbers. Why? Because there are several places in the book of Bamidbar that the Jews are counted. But that's how it begins, this Parsha. The Shulchan Oruch says, we always read Bamidbar before Shavuos. There are certain very rare off years where it doesn't happen that way, where Naso comes before Shavuos. But Bamidbar is always read before Shavuos. Why? Shulchan Oruch says, Manu VeOtzru. Count, then make Atzeres - make Shavuos. The idea behind it is, is that we all count. Every Jew counts. The Parsha enumerates how many Jews were in each tribe. Reuven, Shimon, Levi - not Levi at first - Reuven, Shimon, Yehuda, Zevulun, Naftali, etc., etc. And then it says where they were placed around the Mishkan. North, south, east, west, whatever. The idea behind it is that every person has his place, every person has his position, every person is born in a different country, and every person has his mission, his own individual mission. The main thing that we have to understand is that we all count. We *all*, no matter who we are. If we're someone very important, VIP; if we're a simple guy, a low man on the totem pole - doesn't matter. Everyone has his place in the Jewish nation. And as such, you have tremendous power to accomplish tremendous things. That's what it's all about, right? You're a Jew, you're a member of the tribe, and you have tremendous power. How? What kind of power? Well, the power of prayer. The power of doing good. You can contribute a tremendous amount, and that's basically the way history always worked. Some guy here or there, wherever
