Rabbi Binyamin Yuhanan

What’s said in this shiur

The opening of this shiur, in Rabbi Binyamin Yuhanan’s own words — taken from the captions, so names and Hebrew terms may be approximate.

[Music] good evening good evening today we are going to speak about a very important topic hopefully we all will live through it and um live i mean survive through it successfully and the topic is teenagers this is the last in the series on on parenting and on parenting and it's a on one hand a summary of what we have been learning because many things that we spoke about um in previous classes apply to teenagers it's sort of you have to combine all your skills and now concentrate on on your older child or teenager whereas with a younger child at the whereas with a younger child at the younger stage you deal just for that stage but as he grows he carries with him memories and baggage from his younger years and now when you are speaking to a teenager it's not a fresh baby but rather it's an experienced teenager it's an experienced individual who has developed his individuality who has memories his individuality who has memories who has a unique relationship to you and to the whole world and so now within him he has a baby within the teenager he has a toddler and within him he has an aspiring adult a teenager and it is scary for him because he is entering a stage in his because he is entering a stage in his life that he's unfamiliar with seemingly more opportunities open up for him or her and they're not ready and they are scared it is tempting but it is also scary so when you approach your teenager you're no longer dealing with a a single individual but rather you're dealing
