What’s said in this shiur

The opening of this shiur, in Rabbi Aaron L Raskin’s own words — taken from the captions, so names and Hebrew terms may be approximate.

[Music] In the laws of chapter 3, law number three says the following. There were 22 goblets on the manura and there was nine flowers and there was 11 buttons. However, if one of them is missing, the entire minura is invalid. If one of these 42 ornaments are missing, it would be not valid. What is the concept of these numbers and these ornaments on the holy manora? Theim are 22 says that 22 represents the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet. And the idea of gaveim is joy, wine, goblets. In other words, when one studies the Torah that is made up of the 22 letters of the Torah, it has to be done with joy to be rejoicing in these 22 letters of the Torah. And then you have the says flowers representim righteous people for when they pray the letters fly up to the heavens. They don't remain down here but rather they continue to soar higher and higher and pierce the heavens. And this is nine.
