0:00 A wondrous story of Hashgachah - this Jew: "Last week the Rav told me to go and buy the sefer Menoras HaMaor of Rabbi Yitzchak Abuhav - there are a great many remedies in it, in this sefer. I searched and searched, I found some store, I went to the store. To the right of this sefer - of course, it is a huge library - to the right, the Rav's sefer; to the left, the Rav's sefer; and the sefer the Rav asked us to buy was in the middle. We understood that there is Hashgachah from Above here, that the Rav is guiding both from the right and from the left, and guiding us, And with Hashem's help, may there be miracles and wonders for everyone."
0:33 This sefer, Menoras HaMaor - it is a sefer that has a great, great deal of mussar in it. Know this: anyone who wants a complete recovery - when you need a complete recovery, one has to do teshuvah. The root of all illnesses and diseases is because of a flaw in closeness to the Holy One, blessed be He, because of sins, iniquities and transgressions, whether from this gilgul or from other gilgulim. And therefore the way to receive an answer and healing is through complete teshuvah that one does, when we do true, true, true teshuvah.
1:04 Then the Holy One, blessed be He, atones, has mercy and also forgives. And so, to do true teshuvah, it is not enough just to say "I have sinned, I have done wrong, I have transgressed"; one also has to learn from a sefer that awakens to teshuvah. So there is Orchos Tzaddikim, there is everything, but Menoras HaMaor is a sefer that is entirely, truly full to overflowing with yiras Shamayim, and there is a great, great deal of yiras Shamayim and teshuvah here, which a person can really read - a great many Gemaras, Midrashim, and there is great benefit in it. It is also a tradition that there is healing in it, and many things - mussar and yiras Shamayim. Orchos Tzaddikim too is considered a sefer like this - a great deal of mussar and yiras Shamayim -
1:43 Mesillas Yesharim too - but from him I asked specifically for Menoras HaMaor, and by Hashgachah pratis he goes to a big bookstore, he saw this sefer - on its right, my sefer; on its left, also my sefer; and Menoras HaMaor was in the middle. It was a hint from Heaven. Yasher koach - the merit of Rabbi... Here, he photographed it. Beautiful.
2:13 Out of all the sefarim, my sefer on the right and on the left, and Menoras HaMaor in the middle. Hashgachah pratis: you know what was said by the Imrei Kadosh, Rabbi Uri of Strelisk - he said that when one walks in the street and a strong wind comes and moves the beard, one side to the right and one to the left, or moves the peyos, one this way and one that way - that too is by Hashgachah pratis, exact to the last detail.
2:40 Everything is by exact Hashgachah pratis. Last week there was a little boy here who got a hard blow to the eye, and the doctors said he would not be able to see. He was running and a bush went into his eye and injured him inside the eye. So I asked, I said to someone: Is there a candy here to give him? A Jew took out a candy. I come to give him the candy, I look at the candy - the wrapper of the candy: the shape of an eye, with all its veins behind it. What could the probability be that there would be a candy with such a disgusting picture? It gives a person no desire to look at the candy.

3:13 He sees an eye with blood behind it, in the shape of veins, the shape of an eye. I said to him: See how the Holy One, blessed be He, watches over you. This is called Hashgachah pratis, exact - when a person cleaves all the time to the Holy One, blessed be He, and trusts in the Holy One, blessed be He, knowing that everything is before Him, blessed be He, and that Hashem, blessed be He, does it all, as our master the Nefesh HaChaim writes, chapter 12 of Gate 3: "so will He, blessed be He, see to it that other wills are nullified from upon him, that they not rule over him, and they will make no impression on him at all."
3:42 The Brisker Rav, when he was in the war, would repeat this saying of Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin all the time: when a person fixes in his heart, saying: "Is not Hashem the true G-d, there is none besides Him." The moment a person knows that it is only Hashem, blessed be He, then there is already Hashgachah pratis: everything that comes his way is truly full of the revelation of G-dliness. The Holy One, blessed be He, is speaking with us. He cannot speak now with every single one. Every single one - He cannot be revealed to him as to Moshe Rabbeinu and tell him, "Come, listen, let us start talking with one another." That will not be; that is only when Mashiach comes. In part 6, siman 98, in the responsa of the Chasam Sofer, there he brings that in the time to come, the King Mashiach -
4:19 the Holy One, blessed be He, will be revealed to him, as it was "what has been is what will be" - and He will tell him: Go, redeem Israel; and until then he does not know that he is Mashiach, until He is revealed to him. So writes our master, the Chasam Sofer. But today the Holy One, blessed be He, can be revealed to every person through what he sees with his eyes, through what you suddenly see, what strengthens you. But what is the sign? Only what strengthens you. Not to look at something that makes a person despair, because sometimes these are acts of delusion and of demons, only in order to break the person.
4:48 They can send a person the works of the Satan - a person will suddenly see something that weakens him, and then he will go backward. "See, this is from Heaven - they do not want me to go, they do not want me to do it." Anything that makes a person despair, anything that weakens you, anything that frightens you - a terrifying dream, suddenly something - you opened a sefer and a frightening verse came out - that is not there to weaken you. Search only until a good verse is found. because from Heaven they speak with you only for the good; Heaven only shows a person the light, all the time they show good - not to be broken. Because a person can now, go and suddenly open a sefer, to something not good - suddenly he would see that. Now picture it: chas v'shalom, he would go
5:22 and see this sefer, and next to it the laws of mourning. You are going to be afraid. That is not a sign. No, one does not make signs out of things like these. Only what strengthens is Hashgachah pratis. And so always remember: a good dream came to you - adopt it. A bad dream came to you - say: "Dreams speak falsehood." A good dream came - we say: "In a dream I will speak to him." A person set out on the road and suddenly saw some good sign, some good verse, everything - "See, the Holy One, blessed be He, is with me."
5:48 If there was something not good, he says to himself: This is nichush, I do not look at it at all. A person must all the time reach a state where he sanctifies himself and rises higher and higher, without the possibility of looking at the things around, because the things around want to confuse a person. Therefore, this is called Hashgachah pratis that is exact. Every person should always picture to himself - there is also another Hashgachah pratis, when a person learns: suddenly he learned here, afterwards he opens a sefer and the same teaching is in another sefer, so he suddenly learns it again - like ruach hakodesh, the Holy One, blessed be He, speaks with the person.
6:21 But the most important thing is that a person should always be strengthened, and learn from it how to come close to the Holy One, blessed be He, and never be broken, chas v'shalom. All right? We will be strengthened by this, with Hashem's help. You have strengthened us now. The example of Menoras HaMaor came here by Hashgachah pratis, and so again, hear this and take it in: always seek the Holy One, blessed be He, in everything you see and do.
6:45 May it be His will that we merit to come close to the Holy One, blessed be He, and to give Hashem, blessed be He, nachas ruach. Much success to you. It is a good dream, only good. I only strengthen toward the good. Not things that are not good. Not to be afraid. To be only in joy, always; only thoughts that are good and joyful, and we will not fear or be afraid of anything in the world, only of the Holy King.
7:15 Let us say: Holy One, blessed be He, we fear only You.
