This week's parsha, parsha's Va'etchanan, begins with Moshe pleading to Hashem to forgive his decree not to let Moshe come into Eretz Yisrael, but to actually let him in. And the first word, Va'etchanan, Rashi tells us is one of the 10 forms of tefillah. Moshe was davening to come in. And the Da'at Zkenim Ba'alei Tosafot on the spot says that Moshe davened 515 tefillos. That's actually the gematria, tefillos. That's actually the gematria, the numerical equivalent of Va'etchanan, 515. And the pasuk says at the end of Moshe's plea, Hashem says, "Rav lakh. Al tosef. Enough. Don't ask any more." What does that mean? What's the Torah adding in? Explains the Pnei Yehoshua in Maseches Berachos on Daf Lamed Beis, "Leiv." Cuz that's what tefillah has to come from, from your heart. Explains the Pnei Yehoshua, Hashem said, "Do not ask for a Yehoshua, Hashem said, "Do not ask for a 516th time. No more. Cuz one more tefillah, I'll actually have to let you go in. And that's not the right thing to do." And we see a fascinating thing from here. Tefillah works. Sometimes it's not after the first request, or the second, or the third. You just have to keep on asking. But at the end of the day, it always makes its mark and will have a tremendous impact. and will have a tremendous impact. In fact, back in parsha [clears throat] Shemot, Hashem is telling Moshe that he has to go down to Mitzrayim to take Bnei Yisrael out. And Moshe says, "I can't. I have a speech impediment. I cannot go ahead and be the leader of the Jewish people." And Hashem says, "Well, I can make that work. I could do anything." And the Rishonim ask the following question. Why didn't Hashem just cure Moshe's speech impediment? Again, Hashem can do anything, any
