The three weeks is a time of national mourning. It uh on the calendar it falls between uh the dates of the breaching of the walls of the holy city of Jerusalem on the 17th of Tammuz and the actual destruction of the of the Beis Hamikdash of the Temple on the 9th of Av. So, that's uh three weeks between those two dates. And halachically it's a time where we are enjoined to mourn, to grieve. And it is a very sad time. But at the same time, it's not a contradiction. There's another perspective. And that is that at the same time that we're grieving for what we lost, the grandeur, the splendor of what once was when the Temple stood, at the very same time, we are looking forward to what will be. When as the prophets have promised us, the Temple will be rebuilt in its place and all of the the mitzvahs of the offerings will be reinstated. And the revelation of God's presence, of the of the Shechinah, will return. So, it's a it's a difficult time to to to be Jewish not just during the three weeks, but really the past 2,000 years because on one hand there's so much loss. There's so much to mourn the the loss of. On the other hand, there's so much to look forward to because good times are coming. And whatever it is that was taken away will be replaced by something far greater. To the extent that the Rambam says in the laws of fasts that these fast days which commemorate the historical dates having to do with the destruction not only will they be uh canceled when Mashiach comes
