Shalom, we're going to do a short series of lessons on the topic of Birkat HaLevanah, the prayer over the moon. It's a prayer we say once a month, but it's a prayer that's not well known by most of our brothers and sisters, and even for those who say Birkat HaLevanah regularly and diligently once a month, I'm not sure we've taken the time to study its meaning, origin, significance, and all the wonders it contains. So, it will be my humble mission to share perhaps two, three, or four lessons on this subject of Birkat HaLevanah. Today, I'll just give an introduction to this Birkat HaLevanah, the blessing over the moon, so that the lessons aren't too long. In the next lesson, we'll start to delve into the heart of the matter. As an introduction, our sages tell us in the Gemara—that's where we find the source of Birkat HaLevanah— in the Gemara, the Talmud. in the Gemara, the Talmud. which is called Sanhedrin, that's the name of that chapter, and on page 42 it is reported that Rabbi Aha Bar Hanina said in the name of Rabbi Assi, two great Talmudists, himself, who said in the name of Rabbi Yohanan, the third Talmudist. We bring these three Talmudists because each has a particular merit in transmitting the Torah that we have since Moses. And so that is why the Gemara, the Talmud,
