Good evening! We continue our series of lectures dedicated to the book "The Path of the Righteous". Last week we finished chapter 17. It discussed ways to achieve purity. What should a person do when he realized that all these illusions did him more harm than good? Then the man began to understand that he was not on the right path. We discussed two ways to purify your thoughts and actions. This was the topic of our last lecture. Today we move on to chapter 18 - Explanation of the quality of piety. This is one of the most interesting chapters in this book. It was a handwritten book written by Moshe Chaim Luzzatto from the city of Padua in Italy. He had a copyist who made copies of his books. One copy was given to the Vilna Gaon of Vilna. When he read the 18th chapter, he stood up, put on his suit, which he wore on Shabbat, and asked to show him this sage who changed the world. He was told that this sage was from the city of Padua in Italy. He said that he was ready to walk there to see the one who illuminated the world. But he was informed that he was too late because the sage had already left this world. He was very young - only 39 years old. He wrote about 100 books. Only a few of them have survived to this day. The rest either disappeared or remained in the hands of that generation.
