We all know that the Aron was hidden before the Haram Bayis Rishon. Where it was hidden is interesting, but much more interesting is why it was hidden and how come HaMelech built that contingency into the construction of the Beis Hamikdash in the first place. The impact it has on future Batei Mikdash is profound and the lesson that it has for us is also really important. We're going to learn about this in the Rambam. In Hilchos Beis HaBechirah, the beginning of the fourth chapter of Hilchos Beis HaBechirah which discusses the laws of the Beis HaMikdash. After the Rambam the Rambam lists for us the various items that were found in the Holy of Holies, then he tells us as it were to the west of the Kodesh HaKodashim was a unique rock. And the Aron sat on that rock. And then is the Rambam he continues with what sounds like a piece of history rather than a piece of Halacha. When HaMelech built the Beis HaMikdash he knew that eventually it would be destroyed. that eventually it would be destroyed. Therefore he created a subterranean place to keep the Aron no matter how many tunnels with these twisty deep tunnels that he used in order to create a labyrinth of places within which he could hide the the the Aron. That was the plan of HaMelech. Fast forward a few generations. Then Yoshiyahu HaMelech then Yoshiyahu when he was the king instructed they hid the Aron in the place that HaMelech had allocated for this purpose. tells us
