We continue the shiur in Navi - the history of the Jews from the time of Yehoshua taking the Jews into Eretz Yisrael through the time of the Beis HaMikdash. Until now we have completed the story of the era - the tekufah of Yehoshua. The 14 years of battles and dividing the Land. Yehoshua had led the Jews in victory against the 31 Kings of Canaan, as Eretz Yisrael was called prior to it being called Eretz Yisroel - "Eretz Canaan". And then there were seven years of war and then seven years time it took to divide the land among the 12 Tribes of Israel. During this time, the Jews were successful throughout. They followed Yehoshua as loyally as they had followed Moshe Rabbeinu and in certain respects even more so because at the time there were many rebellions, revolts, against Moshe Rabbeinu - acts of disloyalty to Hashem. In the time of the Yehoshua, only the chosen ones, the good ones, the perfect ones, remained alive and they followed implicitly the orders of Yehoshua as though it had come from Moshe Rabbeinu directly. There was one thing that they were lacking in and this is what caused their misfortune throughout the generations to come. They missed out on one mitzvah - and it's a major one. When Hashem says to a Jew to be kind - to extend yourself - help another Jew at your own expense at your own sacrifice, he must do so to the furthest degree possible. At the same time, when Hashem says to a Jew be harsh, be heartless, be rough and have no consideration,
