RAV EFRAIM KACHLON : Shalom and welcome to all our viewers we are continuing our series on Zikuy Harabim We have here with us Rav Yaron Reuven, who B''H like we said in the previous lecture, has had a lot of experience in the work of doing kiruv. We will open our discussion with a Midrash of Moshe Rabbeinu, that.. Talks about the story of Moshe Rabbeinu, who in the beginning was a shepherd, And.. One day, a sheep ran away..from the flock. And it was just a small lamb that had run from the flock And Moshe Rabbeinu really ran after the lamb, which by this time had come to a source of water The lamb then went to drink water. Moshe Rabbeinu felt very merciful towards the lamb He said: ''The lamb was so thirsty and I didn't know!'' He carried it and returned it back to the flock. And you have to see that Moshe Rabbeinu had 1000 sheep in his flock. Out of that one of the sheep ran away and he chased after it! What about the other 999? From here we see what is a true leader A true leader sees that if one runs away from the flock.. or goes out of line..he must run after him. Till he comes to the place...where there is water. As water is compared to Torah.. And then he is brought back to the flock. And the Midrash says that the reason for which Moshe Rabbeinu was chosen to be the leader of Am Yisrael was that he knew, that he has to run after the lamb'; the smallest and most insignificant part of the flock and to guide it back to the flock.
