0:00 And I will ask you a question, how could the Sages in the past know, they have no microscopes, they have no particles to test honey whether it is impure or pure, permitted to eat or forbidden? Think about it. This honey the Sages see, I think everyone would have had to forbid the honey for generations, and today we would have had to discover that honey is something that is not made by the bee at all, and then everyone would say, did you see how the Sages did not know?
0:28 Everyone would immediately jump. The Sages see such a thing? Who can check this or examine this in what way, or such a small size of a bee? How it is produced, what goes on, in order for this thing to be permitted or forbidden. The Sages learned this in Tractate Bechorot, page 7, also in the Rambam, in the laws of forbidden foods, chapter 3, law 3 in the Rambam. How? Simple.
0:54 The Rambam can know that this thing is permitted. It is only because the Sages learned the Torah, and their purpose and their essence was to reach the truths of the Torah, to know what is Hashem's will. They did not try immediately to forbid everything and did not try immediately to permit everything. They tried to delve deeply and understand what stands behind it. And when one learns the Torah in a way that you try to understand what Hashem, blessed be He, wants of me, not what I want from Hashem, blessed be He.
1:25 All the time a person comes to the Torah and comes to Hashem in the Torah: what do I want? But no one comes with what Hashem wants. And from here begins all the sorrow and the sadness. The sorrow and sadness of a person begins from this, that all the time he wants. But if a person came from knowledge and comprehension and contemplation of what Hashem wants of me, then he would understand that even his present reality is a reality that is the will of the Creator.
1:51 And I need to turn to my Creator and ask for His mercy to help me and to say to the Creator simply, like this, simply, that it is hard for me and bitter for me and I cannot any more and I want salvation, I want help from Hashem and I want the Creator to have mercy on me, that Hashem, blessed be He, should help me, should save me, should separate me and rescue me, and to say to Him actually everything that is hard for me and everything that weighs on me in my simple language.
2:17 And then this attachment creates the connection for the person to be happy, to be fortunate, to have good.
