0:00 Why do we say long days and years of life? Once they asked him, Rofes Chaim, May his merit be upon us, Rav Meir HaKohen. They asked him, why is it written, the Sages say, to bless a person with the prayer of Rav and with blessings, it is written why Rabbos de Rav, length of days and years of life, that one blesses "length of days and years of life." Everyone goes up to the Torah and says, life and peace and so on, what is this? Life, what is peace? Why length of days, years of life? Why the double language between length of days, years of life? What do so much life and peace add to a person?

0:29 People are always blessed with life, peace, quality of days, years of life, why this double language? Say long years, and that is it, pay attention. He said to them, when I depart from the world, you will understand what the meaning is. And when the Rav passed away, they tried to do what he used to do. In the morning he would go as a dayan. After that he would go to a meeting, after that at noon he would go to be a [unclear], after that he would... and then they understood that fifty rabbis were needed to appoint those who do what he did in one day - this is length of days, that the day is long and you can do in it everything you want.

1:05 And therefore we say length of days, or years of [unclear] who begins the day, and the Siyata Dishmaya until he arrives at his place of work, arrives at this place, graves of tzaddikim, a place of [unclear], one needs to do a hundred things in a day, and sometimes a person gets stuck all day with the steering wheel in the car, so this is called length of days, that you succeed in doing many, many things in a day. Therefore we say, length of days and years of life, that is it.
