Midrash: Learn from the parashah, "If you go out, the letter A" The midrash says, "If you go out to war," our rabbis taught, "A mitzvah leads to a mitzvah, and a transgression leads to a transgression." This means that this rule is well-known, according to which a person who performs a mitzvah is bound to perform more mitzvahs, and unlike if he commits a transgression, this leads to additional transgressions. The midrash midrash finds a wonderful source for this from our parashah, from this parashah, "If you go out." The Midrash says, "And you saw a beautiful woman in her worth and desired her, and you took her as your wife, and you shaved her head and did her nails." Why did the Torah say, "And she shaved her head, and she flew and made her say, "And she shaved her head, and she flew and made her nails?" The Midrash says so that you will not find it pleasing. That is to say, the Torah did not want you to keep a woman you took because she was a divorced woman and you desired her and she was not a Jew by nature, but you desired her and took her for yourself. And it is well known that the Sages said that if the Holy One, blessed be He, had not permitted him to take her, he would have taken her with a prohibition, meaning that this is something that He does not recommend taking the one who shares this title. And if nevertheless a man leaves him with her, yes, in a man, he leaves her with him, forgiveness. Then the Midrash says, what is written in the Tara? What is written afterwards that a man shall have two wives, one beloved and one modest.
