Welcome to Sparks of History, where Jewish history and world history meet. We are very pleased and honored to have with us today Rabbi Moshe Taub in our ongoing Mosaic Press series. Rabbi Taub currently serves as the rabbi at the Young Israel of Holliswood, New York. Rabbi Taub is Ami Magazine's rabbinical editor and author of the Shul Chronicles column, which touches upon areas of Halacha, Jewish law, Hashkafa, and the rabbinate. Previously, Rabbi Taub served as Menahel at Telshe Yeshiva in Riverdale, New York, director of BVK Kosher, and rabbi of the Young Israel of Buffalo. And today, we will be discussing Rabbi Taub's recently released fascinating book, Jews in the New World: History, Halacha, and Hashkafa, another gem in the Mosaic Press lineup of elegant, meaningful, and bold works. Um just generally speaking, what is the thesis of Jews in the New World? Uh Several several years ago, my brother-in-law was visiting us. It's a happy accident. Uh the thesis is almost retroactive. And It uh several years ago, my brother-in-law visited for Shavuos, and he gave me a book, Could you return it to the shul? And it was a book on the life of R.J.J., Rabbi Yaakov Yosef. Incidentally, Yosef was his last name, spelled uh Yud Ayin Zayin Vav Peh. Uh and I I started looking through it, and like most writers, I said, I could get a column or two out of this. But I I wasn't enough, cuz I wanted to know what world he came to. And then I looked into that, but what world did they come to? And Zecharyah Mosolam, as a person says, to study
