Good evening. Where heaven kisses earth. The pain and the miracle of childbirth. Tonight, I must say I'm going to talk about something I am absolutely clueless about. You know they tell the anecdote about this woman who was in the midst of giving birth. It was a complicated and difficult labor. And her husband is pacing in the hallway of the hospital back and forth breathing heavily, stressed out. And the nurse comes out of the room and turns to him and says, "Sir, congratulations. Your wife just gave birth to a beautiful baby girl." And the man says, "Ah, thank God. She will never have to go through what I just went through." Yes, in this area many of us men are absolutely clueless. And I do in advance of the class have to ask forgiveness from the distinguished women who are watching and listening to this class for discussing this topic and yet I think that the sources that we will be exploring this evening give us tremendous insight and inspiration into this theme of the pain and the miracle of childbirth. One of the most adventurous and fascinating things I find in the study of Torah and the teaching of Torah is how often what seem like inconsequential small details upon deeper reflection give us tremendous profound insight. This too was included in the request of David King David in the book of Tehillim. Gal Einai Va'abita Neifla'osaicha. Expose my eyes and let me gaze at the wonders of your Torah. And tonight we want to explore one of these wonders. The opening of the portion of Tazria discusses childbirth.
