So, we've all entered into the awesome world of Bamidbar. There are five books of the Torah. We're now in the fourth book of the Torah, fourth book of the five. >> [snorts] >> We left Egypt and we went into the desert. We We received the Torah. The Torah is the guidebook for life. Torah comes from the word hora'ah, which means instruction manual. And it was given in the Bamidbar, in the desert. In silence. The Midrash says it was completely silent, and then out of the silence came Hashem's booming voice silence came Hashem's booming voice saying, "Anochi Hashem Elohecha, I am the Lord your God." And our sages teach us, why was it given in a desert in silence? Because you can [snorts] only tap into the truth when you get rid of all the distractions in your life. You got external distractions, you got your society. You got your internal distractions, you got your ego, you got your mind. So, you're noisy. Your life is noisy. You're being bombarded all the time. Your five senses are being bombarded. Your five senses are being bombarded. Notifications and responsibilities and obligations. So, the Torah is given in the Midbar. The Midbar being the desert. Actually, the very same letters in the right order as medaber, which means to speak. So, God speaks to you in the silence. When you get rid of your ego and your physical desire, your animalistic physical craving, and your society telling you what's cool and what success means, then you can actually tap into a
