Shalom Aleichem. Welcome to the weekly Breslov Parshah shiur. This week, starting Wednesday night, is Rosh Hashanah - Thursday and Friday, Rosh Hashanah - and Shabbos is Parshas Ha’Azinu, a song that Moshe Rabbeinu authored for Klal Yisrael to let us know what’s going to happen at the end of time. So, first, we begin with Rosh Hashanah. Understand, these are days of judgment. It’s not a free day, a holiday like Pesach, Shavuos, Sukkos - family holidays. It’s not that way. You can go before HaShem: “Please HaShem, I know I did wrong. I know I deserve X, Y, and Z.” Oh, by the way, very important: Never say, “I deserve punishment.” Never say, “I deserve this.” Never say that. I want Your compassion.” And that’s what we’re asking for Rosh Hashanah. We’re asking HaShem to come to us, come for us, to be at our side, to write us down. The Gemara says there are three books opened on Rosh Hashanah: the book of Tzaddikim, the book of the wicked, and there’s a book of the in-between person. Tzaddikim are written down automatically for life. The wicked are written down for death. Those in between they’re given a sentence that’s withheld for the time being, until Yom Kippur. If the person improves himself during the Ten Days of Repentance, then he gets a reprieve. If not, he gets a penalty. So now, the question is always
