so when uh when I wasn't religious I did a lot of things that are not on but nevertheless I feel like I learned a lot from them um so therefore my question is do I have to really regret doing all those things or is it just that I have to commit never to do them again yeah so that's an interesting question a person was not religious for part of their lives and they did things that are against the halacha not because they against the halacha not because they intended to rebel against God but they didn't even know there was anything wrong with what they did now would it be different if somebody intended to rebel against that all right so I'll address both of it or or someone you know again there are two different varieties right either a person just didn't know or a person knew and said I don't care and I'm going to rebel against Hashem now they do chuva so true at a minimum of course means that uh you know you're going to try not to do it again but the question is how do I relate to that past now it is interesting that that past now it is interesting that obviously one of the requirements of chuga is not only Kabbalah lawsuit where you resolve not to do it in the future but there absolutely is an element of in which I regret I have remorse I'm sorry for what I did in the past so from a very technical standpoint of the Mitzvah of chuva you are you have to have regrets and yet and yet there is it's actually a much more complicated Dynamic than you might think
