the camera. So, you're kind enough to have had an extra cup of coffee and beer tonight. I'm greatly greatly appreciative to you. Good to see some new faces. Wonderful to see so many so many friends. We have the privilege this week of reading and learning Parsha Shoftim page 1024 in the ArtScroll Stone Chumash. Shoftim u'Shoterim titen l'cha b'chol sh'arecha asher Hashem Elokecha noten l'cha l'shivtecha u'shatuta sham mishpat tzedek. We continue with Moshe's soliloquy, his monologue to the Jewish people. They're on the cusp of entering the land, realizing their dream, setting up a nation, a people in our homeland based on the principles of our timeless Torah. And Moshe on the last days of his life is delivering this monologue that is the entire book of Devarim, of Deuteronomy. And he's honing in on the messages that are critical to the critical to them at this juncture. And one of them is a justice system. The importance of justice, of truth. Shoftim u'Shoterim titen l'cha b'chol sh'arecha. Judges and officers, you can't have one without the other. You need the legislators, you need those who adjudicate law, and you need police people. You need to fund the police who are going to apply and maintain and preserve and protect the law. If you have law and it sits in books collecting dust and nobody's actually enforcing it, it doesn't do much good. If you have enforcers, but they're not guided by justice and by law, they're just following their own vigilante justice, it's not good. It's the combination of Shof'tim u'Shoterim. We need that combination of judges and officers. We've spoken much about this
