we're in the chapter on um flattery okay good if we're up to the eight so continuing in our discussion here on flattery is's giving I think it was a list of nine forms of flattery uh the most recent one we saw was seven where he's talking about if a person lives in a in a place where there are let's say Wicked or unobservant uh people or whose observance is LAX and he says I want going to rebuke them because they might not listen that's wrong because they might yeah listen and if you can rebuke them and you don't then you're actually held accountable for what they've done wrong why cuz you could have prevented them from doing it so in a way they're doing it because if you're not saying anything is considered as if you've done it and therefore a person has to be very careful to use his power of influence uh within his sphere of influence to try and prevent people from doing things wrong and if he doesn't that's almost tantamount to concurring with what they're doing and that's why he includes this in a form of flattery because of course you're not overtly flattering the person like we were discussing in the previous forms of flattery but in a way you're kind of um recognizing or uh giving your tacit indirect approval to what they're doing that's a form of flattery he says we mentioned that um if you can't say anything you can't do anything you have no way of of helping or changing the situation then
