In the days of mourning for the passing of Rabbi Akiva's disciples, and I would like to dwell a little on the words of the Gemara that speaks about the passing of Rabbi Akiva's disciples. The Gemara in Tractate Yevamot, on page 62, page 2, says that the Gemara Rabbi Akiva Rabbi Akiva says: A man studied in his youth, a man will study even in his old age. A man studied when he was young, he will study even when he is old. What is the reason for not studying? It is written: "You meditate on them day and night." So why should he not study? The book of Keren Hora says there in the Gemara: "Since it is written: I created evil, I created Torah as a spice." So as soon as a man has a lot of passions, he needs to engage in Torah in order to destroy the passions. But since the man is old, he does not have so many passions. His passions are already quieter. So it was a good thing for the father not to have to engage in Torah. That is why they say: "Hazel," says Rabbi Akiva, "A man engaged in Torah in his youth, he will also engage in his old age." For everyone, what the Gemara says is that you should not be yourself until the day you die. Rabbi Akiva continues
