hi everyone welcome to another edition of the Swarm chatter podcast on this episode of the podcast I'm going to be joined by Professor Aram sham siner who is Professor of medieval Jewish history at benorian University of the neav in Beva and we'll be discussing his new book which is Jews and crime in medieval Europe published by Wayne State University press so thank you Professor schwam Steiner for joining me good evening let's start off tell the listeners a little bit about yourself and your background well first of all I want to thank you for having me on this podcast I heard a lot about it from podcast I heard a lot about it from friends and I'm delighted to be here um a bit about my background I'm uh 53 years old I'm a professor of medieval Jewish history at benuron University of theive I received all of my training all my academic training in Israel I'm born and bred Yushi uh and I uh received my uh training in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem I studied with Professor abam Gman who wrote extensively about ashkanazi jury medieval ashkanazi jury uh published a few books on uh on this uh published a few books on uh on this topic and was also um the winner of the Israel prize he was my mentor and he um uh kind of guided me into this field of medieval ashkanazi jury uh and when I was coming to decide upon the topic for my PhD I was kind of looking for a subject and and as I was looking for a subject one of the things that kind of um Drew my attention was that there was very little writing about the margins of medieval Jewish Society RAB were tackled
