Shalom Aleichem. Welcome to the weekly breast of research share online. This coming week is Chukas Balak in the diaspora. Two parshas laden with incredible teachings. And the let's see how it applies to us today. Chukas starts off with the uh laws of the red heifer. If somebody becomes impure even the worst impurity defiled by a dead body a person could find purity afterwards, too. It's possible. Right? So, the interesting measure Rabbi Yochanan ben Zakkai speaks about it and he says right? I mean, people asked him, how was just the spritzing of the water how does it uh purify? He says, it's not the actual the actual acting brings the purification but it's the faith. Faith that we have in the Torah that a person could rectify his life even if I've done many things that made me impure. I can still find purity. It's the faith that does it. So, that's just a very briefly the idea of the Parah Adumah. Right? Now afterwards parsha goes on to speak about passing of Miriam and in her merit the Jews had the water in the desert. It was her merit. And Moshe Rabbeinu had to bring that back. And that's when he struck the stone. And that's when he lost the merit to enter the Holy Land. Right? Why was so terrible he struck the stone? Right? He did it a year earlier. Why was it uh such a terrible act? Right? The answer is that Hashem told him to speak to the stone. Right? The Rabbeinu explains this exchange as there were times when we force an issue. Striking the stone is like forcing an issue. He was told to speak to it kindly. With uh humility. And he struck it. So what Rabbeinu explains on that lesson, lesson 20 in the Kitzur Maran, he explains it's like stealing.
