Shalom. Welcome to the breast of weekly paria. This week is param. We're in the month of El and Parim is always the first chabas in. And it's got a lot of laws. It just goes one after the other law after one of the most it starts off talking about and judges and policemen. The judges adjudicate the law and the policemen carry out the law. That's the way the pure starts mostly. It then focuses on idolatry even though it applies to all the laws of Torah when we have to take action when we can uh overlook something and uh not always do we overlook but we have to understand human nature. But when it comes to idolatry, we have to go all the way. Get your witnesses. They served idols and you have to do away with the people. Death penalty. And you think about it, what's so terrible? I mean, what happened today? How many idols do you have? Maybe you have a few Indian tool polls. Maybe I don't know maybe in Africa there's a few places that still practice voodoo and whatnot but Buddhist you have certain types of idolatry. Okay, but let us not think that we're clean of idolatry. That's the point. The Torah is eternal. The Torah talks about idolatry that it's a tangible thing even in today's generation. And what would it represent? Well, the Talmud teaches that anyone who was arrogant, it's as if he served idols, right? Arrogant. worthiness. It means you made yourself into an idol that you think you're something special. No good. Anger. The Guru says it's as if he served idolatry. Anger. Because you lose control of yourself. You're no longer recognizing that there's a God. You think that whatever is yours, you deserve it.
