Uh so, yesterday we we um finished up the presentation of the evidence. We have national traditions um of a certain type and historical survey shows us that there's not one example of such a national tradition that's ever been false. That means that we have very large-scale empirical evidence that national traditions of this type are true. And that means the evidence gives us reason to accept them even if we can't check them independently. Um And then we said the evidence that we described is of national traditions describing natural events. We are using this to gain credibility for a national tradition describing a supernatural event. Isn't that a jump from one type of proposition to another? I would say yes, it is. It is a jump. Question whether the jump is justified. And we started by asking what would be a reasonable credible opposition to the supernatural. Would it be reasonable to simply say I reject the supernatural on principle always forever unconditionally without any possible consideration? Would that be a reasonable position to take? And we pointed out that that would be unreasonable. It's unreasonable because if you ask this person who opposes the supernatural what does he mean when he says natural? What does he mean when he says supernatural? If he says by natural I mean what my current science describes as nature and he takes a position rejecting all challenges to that description of nature, then he has condemned himself to never make any progress in science. Revolutions in science come about when the old picture of what nature is turns
