Shalom Aleichem. Welcome to the Breslov Parshah Shiur. Before we go to the Parshah, we're going to go to Lag BaOmer. Lag BaOmer, as you know, is very special. Rabbi Akiva had 24,000 students die in Sefirah because they simply did not honor - give honor to - their friends. It was abuse, obviously. Maybe it wasn't really abuse - maybe it was just a lack of honor. So you imagine the magnitude of not giving honor to somebody when you have to? 24,000 students passed away. What came in their wake? Rabbi Akiva had these students, and he wanted to pass the Torah on. He found five worthy students - Reb Meir, Reb Yehudah, Reb Yosi, Reb Shimon Bar Yochai, and some say Reb Nechemiah, some say Reb Elazar ben Azaryah. But he had five students. Through them, he passed on the entire Torah. Five students. 24,000 would sound great - but it took five. Only five - because these students were unique. They were very unique. And the uniqueness was the honor that they gave to Rabbi Akiva. That's what it was. That was the seal that proved their greatness - they respected Rabbi Akiva. So let's go on. 24,000 students passed
